The Department of Computing Science at GU redesigned two supplemental classes Computing Science Accelerator 1 & 2 to address the issue of low progression rates for students deemed to be ‘at risk’. The class design involved provided a highly structured and supportive environment where students were provided with expert advice; scaffolded support; formative feedback through peer and paired discussion; and enhancement of self-regulation through the provision of learning diaries.
