Commentary on this

The model we came up with drew on research on student learning in HE and on adult learning research, which we found very compatible. We focused on the question of what influences high quality learning. We proposed that there were four key areas that must be considered in the ways we design learning activities and went on to spell out the particular considerations that might be taken into account for each.
It is not the place to go into detail about this, but the most important aspects of this were: the unrelenting student focus adopted, the emphasis on an explicit learning environment that took into account the context in which it was operating to engage and challenge learners, and the importance of actively involving learners in practice.
