The PEER Project

The PEER project is led by the University of Strathclyde and is funded by JISC under its Innovation Grants Scheme (www.jisc.ac.uk/whatwedo/programmes/elearning/ltig/peer.aspx)

The aims of the PEER project are to identify eduational designs and software tools that would support peer review processes and to pilot peer review supported by software in at least two different disciplines.

The specific objectives of the PEER project are to:

  • reveiw the literature on peer review using technology and identify the educational features of effective peer review
  • identify the available software systems that might be used to support peer review and consider them in relation to the educational features
  • pilot and evaluate peer review using software in different academic disciplines
  • produce guidelines for practitioners on how to effectively implement peer review including the evidence base for its value
  • disseminate the project findings nationally and internationally through publications, a website, workshops, seminars and conferences
