Just realized also that I promised to post details of the publications that relate to the case study work.

Crossouard, B. & Pryor, J. (2008) Becoming researchers: a sociocultural perspective on assessment, learning and the construction of identity in a professional doctorate, Pedagogy, Culture and Society, forthcoming. (this gives a more detailed account of the case study, and more elaboration of how the analysis is grounded in Cultural Historical Activity Theory.

Pryor, J. & Crossouard, B. (2007) A Sociocultural Theorization of Formative Assessment, Oxford Review of Education, 33, (5) (forthcoming).

This uses the case study data to develop a theoretical account.
