12. What do assessment designers need to know?
Assessment is about students representing the outcomes of their learning to themselves and others.
There needs to be continuity with the good learning environments which precede assessment.
Assessment which exhibits good technical features but which does not promote effective learning processes is not good assessment.
Finally, I would ask myself: if I was undertaking this course, would this act of assessment be a worthwhile culmination of what I have achieved as a learner? If not, we have work to do.
