9. What are clearly not great designs?
Activity is for assessment purposes alone
Measurement rather than development of learning is emphasised
Encourages short-term performance at expense of long term learning
Low student involvement in processes
Reliability is emphasised over validity
Promotes learning that is not conducive to building learning skills or encourages inappropriate learning (ie. negative backwash effect)
Encourages over-dependence on the judgments of assessors/teachers
Outcomes are not transparent (eg. results are coded in percentages or marks not grounded in criteria)
